OPERATION OF HOPE

Harare Central is proud to partner with Operation of Hope, a Lake Forest, California based not for-profit, all-volunteer surgical team that provides free surgery to children in developing countries who are born with or suffering from facial deformities. The team mostly conducts cleft lip and cleft palate

operations. It has been embarking on surgical missions to Zimbabwe since 2006. The Rotary Club of Harare Central serves the role as the local coordinators. It’s members publicise forthcoming medical missions, engage the Ministry of Health and Childcare, Harare Central Hospital, the Health Professionals Council, Zimbabwe Association of Church Related Hospitals, local corporate partners, media houses and the necessary preparatory work ahead of the medical missions. To date, Operation of Hope has offered free corrective surgery to more that 1,300 patients,

mostly children. Each surgical operation, if undertaken in the USA, costs 20 between $35,000.00 and $80,000.00 excluding travel and accommodation costs. Operation of Hope returns to Zimbabwe in May 2019.
